About Dubai Frame

Dubai Frame is a government-managed landmark located inside Zabeel Park in Dubai. It opened to the public in January 2018 and holds the Guinness World Record as the world's largest picture frame. The structure stands 150 metres tall and 93 metres wide, and is clad in over 15,000 square metres of gold-coloured stainless steel. Its rectangular shape was based on the golden ratio of 1:1.618, a mathematical proportion widely used in classical architecture.

The building was designed by Mexican architect Fernando Donis, whose concept won an international design competition. Construction used over 9,900 cubic metres of reinforced concrete, 2,000 tonnes of steel, and 2,900 square metres of laminated glass.

The Frame is positioned so that, looking north from the Sky Deck, visitors see the older districts of Dubai: Deira, Umm Hurair, and Karama. While looking south, the modern skyline of Downtown Dubai and its skyscrapers comes into view. This contrast between old and new is the central idea around which the structure is built. Dubai Frame draws visitors from across the UAE and internationally, with the full visit taking roughly 1 to 2 hours.

What's Inside the Dubai Frame

The visitor journey at Dubai Frame is divided into three distinct sections: Old Dubai Gallery, the Sky Deck, and the Future Dubai Gallery. The experience flows in sequence from the ground floor upwards and back down again.

Old Dubai Gallery (Ground Floor)

This is where the visit begins. The gallery uses multimedia installations, 3D projections, interactive screens, and sensory effects, including recorded sounds and scents, to recreate life in Dubai before its rapid development.

The exhibition covers Dubai's origins as a fishing and pearling village, its trading history along the Creek, and the social and cultural fabric of early Emirati life. It also provides context for the construction of the Dubai Frame itself. Visitors typically spend 20 to 30 minutes here.

Sky Deck - Present Dubai (150 Metres High)

A high-speed elevator carries visitors 150 metres up to the Sky Bridge, a 93-metre-long glass walkway connecting the two towers. The deck has floor-to-ceiling glass walls on all sides, giving unobstructed 360-degree views of the city.

The glass floor is the main talking point here; visitors can look directly down at Zabeel Park below. To the north, the older neighbourhoods are visible. To the south, the Burj Khalifa and the Downtown skyline dominate the view. The Sky Deck is the best vantage point for photography, particularly around sunset when the light hits both sides of the city.

Future Dubai Gallery (Ground Floor)

Visitors exit the elevator and pass through a vortex tunnel with audio and visual effects before entering the Future Gallery. This section uses holographic displays and digital installations to present Dubai's long-term urban vision, including planned infrastructure, sustainability goals, and concepts that form part of the emirate's development roadmap.

Cafe

A cafe is available on the Sky Deck level where visitors can have a coffee or light refreshment while taking in the views.

Gift Shop

A souvenir shop is located within the attraction. It stocks branded merchandise and mementos related to the Dubai Frame and the city.

Dubai Frame Ticket Prices

Tickets can be purchased online through the official booking portal at ticketingsales.dubaiframe.ae, or at the ticketing counter at Gate 4 on the day of the visit. Online booking is recommended during weekends and peak tourist season (November to April) to avoid queues.

Tips for Visiting the Dubai Frame

  • Late afternoon on a weekday is the ideal time to visit the Dubai Frame. The morning light suits views of Old Dubai, and staying until sunset gives you the city lit up from the Sky Deck. Weekday mornings are the quietest. Weekends and public holidays are significantly busier.

  • November to April is the peak tourist season, with cooler and more comfortable temperatures. Visiting in summer is feasible since the attraction is fully air-conditioned indoors, though the Sky Deck can be warm.

  • Want some photography tips at the Dubai Frame? The glass walkway on the Sky Deck and the south-facing window overlooking the Burj Khalifa and the Downtown skyline are the most popular spots. Bring a phone or camera with a wide-angle lens for the best results. The gold exterior of the Frame is also worth photographing from Zabeel Park before entering.

  • Parking at Zabeel Park is free for the first 30 minutes, after which an hourly charge applies. For longer visits, factor this in when planning.

  • Your Dubai Frame ticket also gives you access to Zabeel Park. The park has a lake, a children's play area, and a cricket stadium, and is a good option if you are visiting with children or want to extend the outing.

When to Visit the Dubai Frame for the Best Deals

Planning your visit to the Dubai Frame at the right time can help you save money while enjoying a smoother experience. Throughout the year, special occasions, seasonal events, and tourism trends influence ticket prices and bundled deals, making certain periods ideal for budget-friendly visits.

UAE National Holidays

Dubai Frame occasionally offers reduced rates or special packages for UAE residents around National Day (December 2) and other public holidays. Checking the official website and deal platforms before visiting is worth it during these periods.

Ramadan

During Ramadan, operating hours typically shift, and special Ramadan-period offers are sometimes available. The attraction remains open, but timings may change.

Dubai Shopping Festival (December to January)

DSF is a city-wide retail and entertainment event. Some Dubai attractions, including the Dubai Frame, release combo deals or discounted ticket bundles during this period. This is a good window to find packaged rates that combine the Dubai Frame with other nearby attractions.

Summer Offers (June to August)

With fewer tourists visiting during the summer months, some attractions offer reduced pricing or added-value promotions during this period. Dubai Frame's indoor and air-conditioned facilities make it a practical summer visit, and promotional pricing occasionally coincides with the lower-traffic months.

Can Dubai Frame tickets be cancelled or changed?

Dubai Frame tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If the attraction closes due to severe weather, visits can be rescheduled but not refunded.
